Pay for parking
You can pay for parking with PayByPhone using the app, phone, SMS, or PayPoint, depending on your country and the payment options available at your location.
This article explains how each option works so you can choose the most convenient way to start your parking session.

Use the app
You can pay for parking using the PayByPhone iOS app, Android app, or Mobile Web.
Start your parking session
- Open the iOS app, Android app, or Mobile Web.
- From the home screen, tap the search box.
- Choose a location using Nearby locations, Recent Parking, Favourites, or the Maps feature.
- Enter the PayByPhone location code if you already know it.

Select your vehicle
- Select a registered vehicle.
- Add a new licence plate if needed.

Choose your parking duration
- Enter the duration in minutes, hours, or days. Time units may vary by parking operator.
- Check for any posted time restrictions before continuing.
- Tap 'Continue'.
Note: In Canada, some locations also offer the 'Park Until' feature.
- Select 'Park Until' if it is available at your location.
- Choose your end time.
- Tap 'Confirm end time'.

Add or select a payment method
- Select an existing payment method or add a new one.
- If this is your first time adding a card, tap '+ Add payment method' at the bottom of the screen.
- If you have more than one saved card, use the arrow to choose a different one.
Note: Only card types accepted at that location will appear.

Review and confirm your parking
- Review your parking details.
- Confirm the vehicle you want to use.
- Tap to confirm your parking session.

Use a Guest account
You can still pay for parking as a Guest user, but a full PayByPhone account will not be created.
Guest users can pay for parking, but features such as transaction history, receipts, notifications, and account settings are not available until you register a full account.

Respond to the promptsExisting users will be prompted to enter the 4- or 5-digit location number, and parking time required. New users will be guided through a registration process.

Wait for your parking to be confirmedOnce you have heard confirmation that your parking has started you may leave your vehicle. Parking details will be sent to the handheld units the Parking Enforcement Officers patrol with.

Extend your parking anytimeExtend your parking at any time. Simply call the number you dialed in. Your account will be recognized, and you will be given the option to extend your parking session or start a new one.

Call the PayByPhone service
- In North America, call the phone number shown on the parking meter or nearby signage.
- In the United Kingdom, call 0330 400 7275. In NA, call 1 866 680 7275
Follow the prompts
- If you are an existing user, enter your 4- or 5-digit location number and the parking time required.
- If you are a new user, follow the prompts to complete registration.
Wait for confirmation
- Wait until you hear confirmation that your parking session has started.
- Once confirmed, you may leave your vehicle.
Your parking details will be sent to the handheld devices used by Parking Enforcement Officers.
Extend your parking session
- Call the same number again at any time during your session.
- Your account will be recognised.
- Choose whether to extend your current session or start a new one.
Pay by SMS (UK)
In some locations, you can pay for parking by SMS.
Important: To pay by SMS, you must already have a PayByPhone account registered to your phone number.
Send your parking details by text
- Text 65565 with your PayByPhone location code.
- Add the duration you want to park for.
- Add the 3-digit security code from the back of your payment card.
Example: 12345 1h 111 TEST123
Add a different vehicle if needed
- If you want to park a different vehicle already saved to your account, add the number plate after the CVV2 prompt.
Use the correct SMS duration format
- 1m = 1 minute
- 1h = 1 hour
- 1d = 24 hours
Wait for confirmation
- Wait for confirmation that your parking session has started.
- Do not leave your vehicle until you receive the confirmation message.
Note: If you have opted in to receive free email receipts, you will also receive an email confirmation.
Pay at a PayPoint store (UK)
In the United Kingdom, you can pay for parking with cash at selected PayPoint stores.
Through PayByPhone’s partnership with PayPoint, parking payments are available at certain PayByPhone locations at one of PayPoint’s 28,000 stores across the UK.
Find your nearest PayPoint store
- View a map of all PayPoint stores by clicking here.
- Or send the word CASH by SMS to 60075 along with your PayByPhone location code.
- We will reply with details of your two nearest PayPoint stores.
Pay for parking in store
To pay for parking at a PayPoint store, you will need:
- PayByPhone location code
- Vehicle registration number
- Go to a participating PayPoint store.
- Ask at the counter to pay for your PayByPhone parking.
- Provide your location code and vehicle registration number.
- The store will process your transaction.
- Pay with cash and keep your receipt.
Extend your parking with cash
- Return to any PayPoint store.
- Repeat the same process to extend your parking session.
Note: Some restrictions apply. You cannot exceed the maximum parking time limit at a location.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pay for parking without using the app?
Yes, You can download the app or launch the mobile web and use the Guest account. In the UK, you can also use SMS based parking.
Can I use SMS to pay for parking if I do not have an account?
No. To pay by SMS, you must already have a PayByPhone account registered to your phone number.
Can I pay with cash?
Yes, but only at selected PayPoint locations in the UK.
Can I extend my parking session?
Yes. You can extend your parking session where the location allows more time. If you do not see an extend button, then the feature does not exist.
