When Do I Need to Pay: On Arrival or On Exit?
When you need to pay depends on where you park and which payment option is available. We offer multiple payment methods at our locations worldwide. Always check the signs when you arrive to confirm when and how to pay at your specific location.

Unless the signs clearly tell you otherwise, start your PayByPhone parking session as soon as you park.
Customer Support staff cannot retroactively start a parking session on your behalf.
Pay When Parking on a Street
Start your parking session as soon as you park unless the signs clearly tell you to pay at a different time.
Pay When You Arrive
Open the PayByPhone app when you park and purchase the amount of parking time you need. Follow all restrictions shown in the app and on nearby signs, including temporary restrictions for construction, road closures, or special events.
Why pay on arrival? Parking staff can confirm that you have started a valid parking session for your vehicle.
Add More Time
You may be able to extend your parking session through PayByPhone. Extensions depend on the location's rules, and you must still follow the maximum parking time shown on the signs.
Pay at a Parking Lot, Garage, or Other Facility
We offer a variety of ways to pay for your parking. The payment options below are only available at select locations. Check the signs and instructions where you park to confirm which option is available and when you need to pay.
Pay When You Leave (Pay On Exit)
Open the PayByPhone app when you are ready to leave and pay for the time you spent parked. Complete your payment before exiting and leave promptly after paying.
Available at select locations in the UK, North America, and Germany.
Pay Using Your Parking Ticket (Ticket Takeover)
Take a parking ticket when you enter. When you are ready to leave, scan the ticket or enter its details including the location code into the PayByPhone app and complete your payment. You can then proceed to the exit without using the payment station.

Pay When You Arrive
Open the PayByPhone app when you park and purchase the amount of parking time you need. Follow all restrictions shown in the app and on nearby signs, including temporary restrictions for construction, road closures, or special events.
Pay Automatically (AutoPay)
Enroll in AutoPay before parking and add your preferred payment method. Once enrolled, you can enter and leave without opening the PayByPhone app. Your payment method will be charged automatically after your stay.

Enter Through a Gate or Barrier
Follow the instructions at the location for entering, paying, and leaving. Depending on the location, you may need to use Pay-on-Exit, Ticket Takeover, or another payment option.
Book Before You Arrive (Reservations)
Book and pay for your parking in advance through the PayByPhone Reservations feature. Follow the parking instructions included with your reservation when you enter and leave.
Available in select cities in North America wherever you see the reservation icon on the map.
Use a Permit
Open the 'Permits' section in PayByPhone to purchase parking for immediate use or book parking in advance for a visitor. The permit options available to you depend on the location.
