When your car insurance is coming to an end, your insurer may offer an automatic renewal of your policy. This can be a convenient way of ensuring you always have cover in place, but it may mean you miss out on potentially better deals. You can contact your provider to opt out of automatic renewal. If you provide us with your insurance renewal date we will automatically send you a reminder that your insurance is due for renewal 30 days before it auto renews.

How do I cancel the car insurance policy that I purchased through the PayByPhone app?
As we provide a comparison service we are unable to cancel your policy as this is dealt with by your insurer rather than with PayByPhone. Your insurer may be able to cancel your policy for you, but you will need to contact them directly to discuss.
I keep my car in multiple locations, where do I say my car is kept?
if your car I kept in multiple locations during the day/night it may be best to select the location it is kept at the most.
My address isn't listed, what should I do?
We use the Royal Mail address look up service, you can by all means select a building name/number in the same street as you for the purpose of your quote however, you would then need to contact the insurer directly where they can change the address for you. Your prices may change slightly once your address has been corrected with the insurer.
When I add my car registration the details aren't correct, what should I do?
There could be several reasons why your car is not listed or the car details you are seeing are incorrect. You can opt to find your car ‘by make and model' instead. In the your car section underneath find car there is an option to select "find your car by make and model". If your car is a new car and you’re not able to find your car, you can choose the closest match by year and make for the purpose of a quote, however, you will need to ensure you confirm your exact car to the provider before purchasing. This will ensure that you are adequately covered. Please note, pricing may differ.
I have an international license, can I still get a quote?
If you are a holder of an International License you may still be able to obtain a quote on our website. You will need to select the 'International License' option when putting in your details. If you have any further questions regarding your license, you should contact the insurer directly.
How do I obtain proof of my no claims bonus?
If you would like a copy of your no claims bonus, please contact your current or previous insurer.
How do I build a no claims bonus?
Not claiming on your policy enables you to build a no-claims bonus. Therefore, sometimes it can be a good idea to avoid making small claims for damage you can fix yourself – this will give you a better chance of building up the discount in future.
Can I transfer my no claims bonus?
You should be able to transfer your no-claims bonus to another car or insurer, so long as you have proof. Your insurer should be able to provide proof of your no-claims bonus at the end of your policy term.

Before insurers are listed on our website, they are put through a thorough due diligence check. You can also check reviews of each insurer on their site directly or on Trustpilot.
Can I change my policy start date?
You can change your proposed policy start date as part of your application on our website. Prices are set by the insurance companies, and they can only provide a quote up to 30 days in advance. Changing any policy details after a start date may incur a fee from your insurer.
Is business cover available?
You can select that you use your car for business purposes by selecting the “social, commuting and for business” option under “Using your car” within our question set.
Where can I find my driving license number?
You can find your driving licence number on your driving licence photo card, this should be 16 characters long. The format we require is similar to this example JONES 701010 AM9 PE. We are unable to accept driving licence numbers from Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. Alternatively, you can choose the option “I can’t provide this right now”.
I don't know my current insurer, what should I do?
We are unable to locate this information for you, however you may be able to find this information by checking your bank statement for any previous transactions, you can also search your email history to see if you have any confirmation emails from the insurer.
Why does the price differ when I go to the insurers site?
The quotes that you see are generated by each insurer.
The prices quoted by the insurers are typically the same when you click "Go to site"; however, the quote validity of products is also managed by the insurer, and pricing can change daily.
How do I get information about my claims?
You would need to contact the company(ies) who may have insured the vehicle at the time any claim was made and they will be able to locate the information needed for you
My job title is not listed, what should I do?
When you buy insurance, your insurer will have a list of job titles. You need to pick one from the list that matches what you do. There’s usually more than one accurate option, so if you are clever (without being dishonest) about how you describe your job, you could be rewarded with a cheaper policy.
For example, if you work as a chef, you could also be a “caterer”. If you work as a journalist, you could also call yourself a “writer” or “publisher”.
Please ensure that you do not misrepresent your employment to the insurer as this may result in the cancellation of your insurance and this may impact your ability to secure future insurance.

If you choose to cancel your car insurance policy within the 14-day cooling-off period, it is a legal requirement that you're granted a refund. You may still be charged for the time when the policy was active and you may also have to pay an administration fee, so check the terms and conditions of the policy. What are compulsory and voluntary excess?
Compulsory excess is a non-negotiable amount set by the insurer that you will need to pay when making a claim. Voluntary excess is an amount that you choose, bearing in mind this is added to the compulsory amount to total your 'total excess amount'. Choosing a higher voluntary excess amount may help to reduce the cost of your premium but you should ensure that you are able to afford any chosen excess.

You will need to contact the insurer directly for further information. In general, if you select to pay your policy monthly via direct debit, the insurer will complete a credit check on yourselves. Therefore, your credit score could potentially affect you being accepted for the policy and selecting credit options for payment may affect your credit score.

There are two different payment methods, either one annual payment, or monthly premium payments. Typically, monthly payments are more expensive as insurers may charge interest, or additional fees, in these instances .

We will only send you insurance expiry reminders if you have provided us with your insurance renewal date. If you no longer wish to receive reminders for a vehicle you can remove your insurance expiry date for that vehicle, or remove the vehicle from your account.
