Fix connection issues in the PayByPhone app
If you are having trouble connecting to the PayByPhone app, your device may be switching between mobile data and a nearby public Wi-Fi network.
This can happen in places like coffee shops, stations, or car parks where open Wi-Fi signals are available.

Try quick fixes
Follow these steps to improve your connection:
- Turn off 'Wi-Fi' to force your device to use mobile data.
- Turn 'Airplane Mode' on, then off again to refresh your network connection.
- Move closer to the Wi-Fi source if you want to stay connected to Wi-Fi.
- Disconnect from public Wi-Fi that requires you to sign in through a browser.
- Pause any 'VPN' service that may be affecting your connection.
- Close and reopen the PayByPhone app.
- Wait 30 seconds to give your device time to adjust to the new network.
- Restart your phone if the issue continues.
Check if the issue is app-related
Try opening PayByPhone in your web browser:
- Visit m.paybyphone.com
- Check whether the website loads properly.
If the website also does not load, the issue may be related to your internet connection rather than the app.
Use the automated phone service (IVR)
If you still cannot connect using mobile data or Wi-Fi, you can use our automated phone service to start your parking session instead.
You can find the phone number on the nearest parking sign.
