How do I extend my parking session?

Need more time? You may be able to extend an active parking session remotely, depending on the parking operator’s rules and the maximum stay allowed.

Important: Your parking session has not been extended until you receive confirmation.

Extend using the PayByPhone App or Mobile Web

  1. Open PayByPhone. Launch the iOS or Android app, or visit Mobile Web, and review your active parking session.
  2. Select Extend.
  3. Choose the additional time. Select the amount of time you would like to add. If different time units are available, such as minutes, hours, days or weeks, choose the appropriate option from the menu. Select Continue.

  4. Review your parking details. Confirm the cost, location, duration and vehicle registration number or license plate.

    Note: You cannot edit the parking details after the extension has been submitted.

  5. Select your payment method. Choose an existing payment method or add a new one.
  6. Complete payment. Enter your CVV if requested. If you are paying with Apple Pay or Google Pay, authenticate the payment using Touch ID, Face ID or your device security settings.
  7. Select Pay & Park. Wait for the confirmation screen. You will then return to the home screen, where the updated active session will be displayed.

 

North America

In North America, you can extend an eligible parking session through the PayByPhone App, Mobile Web or the automated phone service.

 

Extend using the automated phone service

  1. Call 1 888 680 7275, or call the PayByPhone number displayed on the parking signage at your location.
  2. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  3. Listen to the details of your current active parking session.
  4. Press 1 to add more time.
  5. Enter the amount of time you would like to add, followed by #.
  6. Enter the CVV for the payment card you are using.
  7. Wait for confirmation that your parking session has been extended.

United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, you can extend an eligible parking session through the PayByPhone App, Mobile Web, Apple Watch, the automated phone service, SMS or PayPoint.

Payment authentication: You may be asked to authenticate your payment by SMS or through your banking app. Learn more about Strong Customer Authentication.

Extend using the automated phone service

  1. Call 0330 400 7275, or call the PayByPhone number displayed on the parking signage at your location.
  2. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  3. Listen to the details of your current active parking session.
  4. Press 1 to add more time.
  5. Enter the amount of time you would like to add, followed by #.
  6. Enter the CVV for the payment card you are using.
  7. Wait for confirmation that your parking session has been extended.

Extend by SMS in the UK

  1. Send a text message to 65565 containing:
    • Your PayByPhone location code
    • The additional parking duration
    • The three-digit CVV from your payment card

  2. Use the following format: location code duration CVV

    Example: 12345 1h 111

  3. Use one of the following duration formats:
    • 1m = 1 minute
    • 1h = 1 hour
    • 1d = 24 hours
  4. Wait for a text message confirming that your parking session has been extended.

Important: Do not leave your vehicle until you receive the confirmation message.

Extend using PayPoint in the UK

To extend your parking session using cash, visit a participating PayPoint store.

To find your nearest PayPoint store:

  • View the PayPoint store map.
  • Text CASH, followed by the PayByPhone location code where you are parked, to 60075. You will receive details of the two nearest PayPoint stores.
  • Look for the PayPoint sign at participating stores.

FAQ:

Why can’t I extend my parking session?

PayByPhone customers are subject to the same parking restrictions as customers who pay at the meter. The parking operator may prevent extensions after the maximum parking time has been reached.

Some locations also require a waiting period before you can start another session at the same location or at nearby meters. For example, you may need to wait 30 minutes before parking again.
