Ticket Takeover lets you scan your parking ticket and pay in the PayByPhone app, so you can skip the pay station and head straight to the exit.
📋 NOTE: Ticket Takeover is only available at supported ticket-based garages. You’ll usually see signage and/or a location code at the garage.
Before you start
đź“‹ NOTE:
- You need PayByPhone app version 26.3.0 or newer.
- You’ll need your paper ticket (barcode/QR must be readable).
- Keep your ticket — you’ll likely need it to exit.
How to pay by scanning your ticket
- Open the PayByPhone app
- Enter the location code (or choose Park at nearest)
- If the garage supports ticket payment, you’ll see a prompt to Scan your ticket
- Tap Scan your ticket and scan the ticket’s barcode/QR
- Review the amount due and select your payment method (you can change it if needed)
- Confirm payment
- ✅ You’ll see a success screen with exit instructions
📋 NOTE: Some garages may ask you to choose a vehicle/plate during this flow. If you don’t see a vehicle step, that’s normal too.
What to do at the exit gate
- Keep your ticket with you
- Drive to the exit
- Insert your ticket at the gate to verify payment

FAQs & troubleshooting
Why don’t I see the ticket scan prompt?
Ticket Takeover only appears at supported ticket-based garages. Double-check the location code and look for garage signage.
Why is the app asking me to choose a vehicle?
Some garages use your plate as part of the parking details. Follow the steps shown in the app.
What if my ticket won’t scan?
If the barcode/QR can’t be scanned, Ticket Takeover may not work. In that case, use the garage’s pay station or standard payment option.
I paid in the app—do I still need the ticket?
Yes. Keep your ticket and use it at the exit gate unless the garage instructs otherwise.
Will I be charged more if I leave late?
Some garages allow a short grace period, but if you stay longer, additional charges (if any) are handled at the exit gate.
Do I need cash or a pay station?
No. Ticket Takeover is cashless—you pay directly in the app.
My payment is failing when I submit the payment.
If your payment is failing, it may be because you are using an older, unsupported version of the app. To complete your payment successfully, you will need to be using PayByPhone app version 26.3.0 or later. Payments may not go through on earlier versions.
If you are unsure which version you have, we recommend visiting the App Store or Google Play Store to check for and install any available updates.
You can also view your current app version by opening the app and tapping the Account tab in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
