What is a location code and how can I find it?

Find a parking location code

At PayByPhone we are about simplifying your journey, so we make it easier for you across all our channels to find parking locations close to your final destination.

The location code is needed so that the enforcement agents check to see if your parking is validated.

What is a location code?

The location code is a unique number associated with a parking space, meter, or off-street lot.

 The number can range from 4 to 9 digits and does not have any letters or special characters in it.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Be sure to search for the PayByPhone decal, as there will sometimes be more than one company operating at one location. Our logo looks like this:

Maps feature

The Maps feature allows you to search and identify parking locations close to you, or your final destination, easily.

📋 NOTE: Not all locations appear within Maps, for various reasons. We recommend you check signs on location.

  1. Tap on Maps feature located in the Navigation bar.
  2. Pinch the screen OR search for a field at the top of the screen.
  3. PayByPhone parking locations are marked by a PayByPhone logo.
  4. Tap on an individual pin, to view the options.

📋 NOTE: As you zoom into a specific area on the map, these locations will disperse and the individual pins will become visible. The locations may adjust as you zoom in and if not then you can manually input.

📋 NOTE: The further out your view on the map, the more the locations are clustered. A small number in the corner of the logo will let you know how many locations in that spot there are.

Tapping this will provide you with additional information about the parking location such as the Location Number, Parking Time Limits, and Accepted Payment Methods.

Park – This will take you into the payment process and allow you to park at this location.

Parking locations may be shown in one of three forms:

  • PIN - This indicates that one or more parking zones exist.
  • Polygon – This indicates the rate code associated with a parking lot.
  • Lines – This indicates the rate code associated with a street.

Nearby Locations

Nearby Location is a feature that enables our app and mobile web to recommend the nearest parking location to you.

To use:

  1. Open the app and it will suggest the locations located within 200 meres of where you are.
  2. Click Nearby Suggestion to start the process of creating a parking session. For more information on creating a parking session click here.

📋 NOTE: It’s possible for you to be within 200m of more than one location code, in which case the app may recommend more than one option.

Recent Parking Locations

To make it even simpler to re-park at a recent location, the PayByPhone app allows you to quickly recall any locations you have parked at recently.

Choose your desired location from the Recent Parking location list.

  1. Click on the search field.
  2. Select Recent.
  3. The app will then show you your six recent parking locations.
  4. Click on the location code that you would like to use.

Favourited Locations

To make it even simpler to re-park at a common location, such as your place of work or local town centre, the PayByPhone app allows you quickly to Favourite any locations you may have parked at recently.

To create a favourite location

  1. Identify the location you would like to favourite either by entering the location number or via the recent or nearby location functions.
  2. Click on the star icon to the right of your location.
  3. This location has now been added to your favourites.

To park at a favourite location

  1. On the home screen click on the search field.
  2. Select Favourite.
  3. The app shows you your favourite locations.
  4. By clicking on one of the locations, you will be able to start a parking session. For more information on how to start a parking session click here.

To remove a favourite location

  1. On the home screen click on the search field.
  2. Select Favourite.
  3. The app shows you your favourite locations.
  4. Click on the star to the right of the location you would like to remove. This will now remove the location from your favourites.

I can't find my location!

There are a few reasons why you may be unable to find a PayByPhone location code:

1. The location does not appear on the map

The parking operator may not have added location information for that parking area. If a PayByPhone location code is displayed on a nearby parking sign or meter, you can enter it manually.

2.Payment is not currently available

Parking may be free due to a holiday, or payment may only be available during certain hours. For example, a location may permit daytime parking only. In these cases, you may see an advisory explaining that payment is not currently available through PayByPhone. Always check nearby parking signs for current restrictions and payment requirements.

3.PayByPhone is not available at that location

PayByPhone may not be offered by the parking operator at that specific location. Please check the nearby parking signs or meter for the payment methods currently available.

4.Location services are disabled

Location services may need to be enabled on your device for nearby parking locations to appear.

Check your device settings and confirm that location access is enabled for the PayByPhone app. You can still enter the location code manually if it is displayed on a nearby parking sign or meter.
