Are there differences between monthly permits purchasable via the MBTA/PayByPhone website & monthly permits purchasable via the PayByPhone app?
Yes. There are a few differences between a permit purchased on the websites and a permit purchased on the mobile apps. Please find specifics below:

Permits purchased through the PBP mobile apps will not auto-renew at the beginning of the next month (you will be required to re-purchase a permit on a monthly basis).
Roaming abilities are not available for permits purchased through the PayByPhone app. You will not be able to use your permit in other MBTA locations whose parking rates are equal or less than in value. PayByPhone app-based permits are recommended for users who frequently park at the same location.
Purchase 30 days worth of parking from any day as opposed to the beginning of end of month.
Can I update my permit to associate it with a different vehicle than when I purchased it?
Please contact PayByPhone customer support to change a vehicle associated with a monthly permit. A credit or refund may be issued depending on the situation.
