FAQ
How do I purchase PayByPhone Protect?
It’s easy to purchase PayByPhone Protect. Just enable the “Add insurance to your parking” option found on the Confirm Parking screen and complete the confirmation step. You will need to provide an email address so that we can send you your policy documents.
Where can I find my policy documents?
Your policy documents are attached to the fulfillment email you will have received at the time of purchase. Attached to your email, you will find all your insurance documents, including your certificate of insurance, the Chubb Terms & Conditions, and an Insurance Product Information Document (IPID). If you are having trouble finding your fulfillment email, please check your junk email folders and add paybyphoneinsurance@chubb.com to your contacts.
What are “Portable Items”?
Portable items are things you can easily take with you when leaving your home. This can include items like mobile phones, laptops and tools of trade you usually carry with you, but not belonging to your employer.
Items attached to your vehicle, on racks or in roof boxes, pets, and cash (including coins) are excluded from PayByPhone Protect.
What is an excess?
The excess is the amount you must pay towards a claim you make on your insurance. NO excess is applicable for PayByPhone Protect.
Who’s eligible to purchase PayByPhone Protect?
To be eligible for this cover you must be 17 or over and a resident of the United Kingdom.
Can I go to the auto-glass repair shop of my choice?
Yes! A receipt will be required to receive your reimbursement. We will ask for proof of any repair or replacement for car window(s) where applicable, this should include the amount paid and when and where the work or purchase was carried out. An example of this would be a receipt or invoice.
What if I have another insurance provider? Will that be affected?
PayByPhone Protect offers you additionnal protection for smaller incidents so you don't have to make claims with your other insurance providers, (such as your motor insurer) which may affect your no claims discounts, claims history and future premium rates. Your premium rates for PayByPhone Protect may not be affected if you do make a claim under this policy. If you claim under this policy, you must not also claim under another policy; however, you should check if you are required to report the incident to your motor insurer and/or declare it when taking out future motor policies, as this may be an obligation or condition under the terms of such policies.
How do I make a claim?
Please visit paybyphone.claims.chubb.com and follow the claims portal instructions to submit your claim. You can also find a link to the claims portal in the PayByPhone Protect confirmation of coverage email received at the time of purchase.
If you have any technical difficulties, please contact us: +44 (0)345 841 0059 or email paybyphonedeclaration@chubb.com.
How long do I have to submit a claim?
After your car has been broken into, you must report any claim to the police and to us as soon as you can and within thirty [30] days of the incident occurring.
We may still be able to help if you are unable to report your claim within this time. When you report the claim, please ensure you let us know why you were unable to report the claim within thirty [30] days.
What proof of purchase or ownership is required when making a claim?
Proof of Purchase/Ownership is required for items worth over £250. When we say ‘proof of purchase or ownership’ we mean the original purchase receipt that has details of the personal items. This should be your original invoices or receipts where available. If these are not available, we will accept proof of transaction of the purchase on a bank statement, or a series of photos over time to evidence proof of ownership. If this is not provided for items worth over £250, then we will not be able to accept these items as part of your claim.
How long until you settle my claim?
We will endeavour to settle your claim within ten [10] days of the claim being approved by us. Any payments will be made into a bank account in the name of the policy holder.

How does my PayByPhone Protect purchase appear on my payment method statement?
The cost of your PayByPhone Protect coverage is processed as a payment separate from your parking time. You will see a separate insurance transaction on the statement of your chosen payment method.
A pre-authorization hold will be placed on your payment method at the start of your coverage time and will close at the end of the coverage time for the final total amount. Just like at a petrol station, we authorize your payment method at the start, and close the transaction for the appropriate amount at the end based on your actual usage.
How does extending or reducing the parking affect my insurance?
When you park using PayByPhone, your premium charge will be based on the duration of your parking. The insurance fee will cover the nearest 15-minute interval that includes your parking time. If you decide to reduce or extend your parking session with the PayByPhone app, your insurance coverage will also be amended for the nearest 15-minute interval that covers your adjusted duration. The insurance is available for any parking - with or without an extension - up to 48 hours.
How can I get help with my insurance coverage?
